And I am on a path of healing- healing myself, and healing others.
You could say my own healing journey began in 2010- after a car accident left me in chronic neck pain. This event definitely pushed me to explore different healing modalities, in a desperate search for relief. However- my interest in health and the human body started at a young age.
As soon as I learned how to read, I read books. Lots and lots of books. At about the age of 12, my focus shifted from Harry Potter and The Magic Treehouse to health and nutrition. I started reading books about Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, food and chemistry, how the body works, how the universe works, and how to achieve optimal health. In college I studied exercise science, psychology, nutrition, and childhood development. They all felt like pieces to a grand puzzle. But, without the experiential, I could not see how they all fit together. Then I went west.
In California I met a few true healers- one who took away my neck pain (after 6 years), one who confirmed a lot of my feelings about the connections between the body, mind, brain, food and trauma- and a bodyworker who knew more about the human body than anyone I have ever met. Watching these people work, seeing how quickly and effectively they could take away people's pain, I decided I needed to know what they knew.
I went to my first bodywork training in Eastern Europe (myofascial energetic release). My teacher taught me about the role of fascia and emotions in chronic pain. In the United States I study Jin Shin Do (bodymind acupressure) and ISP (integral somatic psychology).
I recently enrolled in the Ayurvedic Institute, where I am learning "the science of life"- how all of the pieces fit together. And I continue to study different modalities to align body, mind and spirit.
