Jin Shin Do (mindbody acupressure)

Myofascial energetic release (MER) is a form of bodywork that focuses on the fascia (connective tissue) of the body to release tension and pain. 

When the brain senses a threat to the body, a lot of energy is activated so the body can fight or flee- and therefore survive. A perceived threat can be as serious as possible death- but, for a lot of us, fight-or-flight gets triggered by the buildup of everyday stressors, or emotional events that lead our nervous system astray. Survival mode can also be a remnant of a stressful environment in childhood, or an event in the past. Whatever the cause- if that extra energy is not utilized, it gets stored in the connective tissue. This stuck energy is a root cause of a lot of chronic pain. It also lowers the immune response. 

MER uses conscious touch, pressure, movement, breath, and silence to create a safe container for the body to release on a physical and emotional level.

Jin Shin Do was created by a psychologist and bodyworker who connected the acupressure points with the mind and organ systems. Sessions are done fully clothed, are gentle enough for all, and tend to put people in a trance-like state. In this state the body receives some much-needed deep rest while tension is released energetically, and the meridians are brought back to a state of increased balance.

Ayurveda is a personalized, holistic, and educational system of medicine that was developed in India 5,000 years ago.

It focuses on preventing disease (rather than managing symptoms) and guiding each individual to health and wellbeing based on their unique body constitution.

A consultation consists of pulse reading (in person), tongue/face/nail reading, and a lengthy intake form that addresses your health concerns. A plan is then presented that includes diet, lifestyle and herb recommendations to help rebalance body, mind and spirit.

You will walk away with more knowledge of how to care for your own body, as well as recipes and practices you can take with you on our healing journey.
